Guinea Bissau, requested election observers.
The Minister of Foreign Affairs of Guinea-Bissau, Suzi Barbosa said today that the Government requested the presence of all traditional election observers to watch the legislative elections on June 04th.
“Guinea-Bissau requested the presence of all election observers. The letters have already been sent.”
“We really count on the presence of many observers, because people are really hopeful and curious about how, once again, the electoral process will be held in Guinea-Bissau”.
Said Suzi Barbosa, when asked by Lusa about the presence of election observers.
The minister was speaking at the end of the signing with the United Nations Development Program (UNDP) of the Project to Support Electoral Cycles, which provides funding of more than five million euros.
The Economic Community of West African States, the African Union, the Community of Portuguese Speaking Countries (CPLP) and the European Union (EU) are some of the organizations that usually send teams of election observers to Guinea-Bissau.
Guinean President Umaro Sissoco Embaló dissolved the National Assembly in May last year and scheduled legislative elections for December 18, but the Government, after meetings with political parties, proposed that they be postponed to May.
Umaro Sissoco Embaló scheduled the ballot for June 04th.
