In the development of its Mais Afrika activity, it needs to process the Personal Data of various data subjects, namely employees, customers, suppliers or service providers, participants in public procurement procedures, as well as users of the Mais Afrika website.
The Personal Data collected by Mais Afrika will be treated in accordance with the regulatory and legal rules in force.
This Policy describes a set of guidelines, rules and principles that must be observed by Mais Afrika to ensure the protection of the rights of data subjects.

This Policy applies to all employees of Mais Afrika, regardless of the nature of the respective relationship. In this sense, either Mais Afrika employees or other service providers, regardless of the nature of the bond, but who are involved in Personal Data Processing operations for which Mais Afrika is responsible, are bound to comply with the rules and procedures set forth herein, which are communicated to them.
Application
This Policy applies to the Personal Data Processing operations carried out by Mais Afrika and for which it is responsible, as responsible for the Processing and/or Processor entity.

This Policy is defined and approved by the Management of Mais Afrika after the opinion of the Data Protection Officer (EPD) / Data Protection Officer (DPO)
Whenever necessary, Mais Afrika will amend this Policy. The Privacy Policy will be updated, at least, whenever necessary in view of legislative or regulatory changes or the best practices applicable in this context that Mais Afrika must observe. Any changes will be approved by the Mais Afrika Administration, in coordination with the Data Protection Officer (EPD) / Data Protection Officer (DPO).
Who carries out processing operations on your data
In the course of its daily activities, Mais Afrika may obtain, process and store Personal Data.
In accordance with UK / European legislation on the protection of Personal Data, Personal Data must be obtained and processed in a fair, lawful and transparent manner.
Mais Afrika is committed to ensuring that its team has adequate knowledge of Personal Data protection legislation and practices, in order to be able to anticipate and identify any Personal Data protection issues that may arise. In these circumstances, the team must ensure that the Controller is informed, ensuring that the appropriate corrective actions are taken, in order to guarantee the rights, freedoms and guarantees of the holders of Personal Data.
Mais Afrika may share Personal Data of data subjects with Subcontractors, as long as necessary for the normal provision of its services, in accordance with the legal and contractual provisions in force.
Access by Processors to Personal Data within the scope of operations in which Mais Afrika is Responsible for Treatment is governed by the contract entered into with its Processors.
In this sense, Mais Afrika contractually ensures and regularly verifies that Subcontractors are reliable entities and offer adequate protection guarantees, namely not transmitting data beyond that necessary for the provision of the contracted service.
Also within the scope of operations in which Mais Afrika is Responsible for the Treatment, Mais Afrika may also share Personal Data with other Responsible for the Treatment, in order to carry out the Processing operations necessary for the provision of the contracted services and in accordance with the legal provisions in force. Within the scope of said joint responsibility, the agreement in force between the parties transparently identifies, namely, the respective purposes and responsibilities in complying with the Personal Data protection legislation in force, guaranteeing and safeguarding the rights and freedoms of data subjects through the establishment of communication channels regarding the response to requests from the said holders.
Regardless of the existing relationship between the Recipients of Personal Data, Mais Afrika defines, through a formal and written contract, the delimitation of obligations in terms of Personal Data, the specific purpose or purposes for which they are involved and the guarantee that they proceed to Personal Data Processing operations in accordance with the provisions of UK and European legislation on the Protection of Personal Data.
Who else Afrika can share the data with
- IT, technical and operational support service providers;
- Customers and/or Suppliers;
- Entities that with Mais Afrika are in a corporate coalition relationship, of reciprocal participations, of domain or of group;
- Judicial Bodies, Police Bodies, Administrative Authorities, namely national or international public entities with a supervisory and regulatory function.
What Else Afrika Does With Data
In its activity, Mais Afrika processes the Personal Data of different categories of data subjects.
However, and given the special framework of Mais Afrika's journalistic activity, it is necessary to distinguish between the processing of Personal Data for journalistic purposes and the processing of Personal Data for operational purposes and entertainment production.
The protection of Personal Data, under the terms of the RGPD, does not affect the exercise of freedom of expression, information and the press, including the processing of data for journalistic purposes and for academic, artistic or literary purposes.
Within the scope of its journalistic activity Mais Afrika must respect the privacy of citizens, except when the public interest is at stake. Mais Afrika undertakes, before collecting statements and images, to meet the conditions of serenity, freedom, dignity and responsibility of the people involved.
As Responsible for Treatment, Mais Afrika guarantees that all Personal Data:
- They are obtained for specific, lawful and clearly defined purposes – the data subject has the right to question the purpose(s) for which Mais Afrika keeps their Personal Data, and Mais Afrika will be able to inform clearly the purposes or purposes of the Treatment;
- Are compatible with the purposes for which they were obtained;
- Are kept with appropriate security measures, implemented or to be implemented, to protect against unauthorized access, or alteration, destruction or disclosure of any Personal Data held by Mais Afrika as Responsible for Treatment;
- They are kept accurately, completely and updated when necessary;
- They are not collected if they are excessive;
- They are only kept for as long as necessary.
Under these terms, the Personal Data collected will be treated in accordance with the following purposes:
a) Customer Data
- Mais Afrika carries out processing operations in relation to the Personal Data of its Customers to guarantee the fulfillment of contracts agreed with the data subjects or with the Persons Responsible for Joint Processing (in relation to the data and data subjects collected by them, such as counterparties, employees and others ).
- The Personal Data now identified and subject to Processing operations, are covered by a situation of necessity for the execution of a contract or for pre-contractual measures, or for the fulfillment of legal obligations, without prejudice to the possible application of other legally foreseen situations.
- Special category data relating to Customers or obtained through Customers will be subject to processing operations, insofar as they are necessary for the declaration, exercise or defense of a right in a legal proceeding, or if the processing is necessary for reasons of important public interest, namely in terms of the prevention of money laundering and the financing of terrorism, without prejudice to the possible application of other legally foreseen situations.
- The processing of Personal Data of Customers or obtained through Customers, related to criminal convictions and offenses or related security measures will always be subject to adequate guarantees to safeguard the rights and freedoms of the data subjects, with the relevant operations in this scope being limited to strict compliance with applicable legal obligations.
b) Data on employees, candidates for a job, service providers and other holders
- In the development of its activity, Mais Afrika processes Personal Data of employees or candidates in recruitment processes in view of the purposes below. Mais Afrika employees who, regardless of the contractual relationship, provide services that affect the Personal Data of other holders of personal data are also covered by this Policy.
- The use of Personal Data provided by these holders is always made in the context of the contractual relationship and for the execution of the contract, unless the holder's consent for explicit purposes or in cases where there is a need for the application of another basis provided for in a legal or regulatory standard.
- In some cases, due to legal obligation, Mais Afrika must retain the data of these holders after the end of the contractual relationship, in which case the holder will be, upon collection, informed about the applicable retention periods or the criteria according to which they may be identified.
- When signing the contract, workers or service providers must sign a confidentiality agreement, committing themselves not to disclose any information to which they have access during the contractual relationship with Mais Afrika, in particular Personal Data of other holders, and to obey the this Policy, in accordance with the terms applicable at any time as a result of any changes made to it.
