Growing up surfing the famous waves of Jeffrey's Bay, February has developed a unique line of surfing, blending intensity, speed and seemingly effortless fluidity.

In 2018, Michael February joined the world's surfing elite on the Championship Tour, where his best result was a 5th place in the tubular waves of Teahupoo, Tahiti.

As well as being an exceptional surfing talent, February is also a pioneer, being the first African-American male to enter the World Surf League. Today, he seeks to be more “creative” in the water and more supportive out of it, showing that surfing can transform communities.

Michael February was born on May 17, 1993, in Durban, South Africa, one year before the end of apartheid. From an early age, he showed a passion for water and, at the age of six, he was already surfing with his father. With the end of apartheid and the desegregation of the beaches, February had the opportunity to become a great surfer, making the most of the incredible waves that South Africa has to offer.

With unmistakable style, February is often described as the most stylish surfer in the industry. His legs are crossed as he stands up on the board and his arms look more like dancing than surfing. This unique approach caught the attention of companies like Vans, who signed him to a worldwide contract.

In addition to being an icon in surfing, February is also involved in charitable projects. In partnership with Vans and the organization waves for change, he helped assemble more than 750 surfboards for at-risk youth in South Africa, showing how surfing can transform lives.
