Cape Verde-Paris Air Link Restored.
The Cape Verdean Communities Minister, Jorge Santos, recently announced in Paris that the Cape Verde-Paris air link, operating between Praia, Sal and São Vicente and the French capital, will resume on July 23, 2023. a big step in the resumption of links between Cape Verde and its diaspora.
The New Strategy of TACV
The new strategy of TACV was presented at the Embassy of Cape Verde in Paris, where the administration announced the flight on a Boeing B Max, an aircraft that allows intercontinental flights. The re-establishment of this air link is crucial for the Cape Verdean community, as France is one of the epicenters of this diaspora in Europe, with more than 100 Cape Verdeans and their descendants residing in the country.
The minister participated in the Cape Verde Business Connect event, which took place in Paris and whose main objective was to connect Cape Verdean companies and potential investors from the Cape Verdean community in France and in other diasporas. This event demonstrates the commitment of the Cape Verdean government to develop projects with responsibility and strengthen ties with the diaspora.

TACV has already resumed its operations in Portugal and, after the reactivation of the Cape Verde-Paris air link, plans to return to operating flights to Boston, which is the airline's next objective. TACV, which was partially sold (51%) to Icelandic investors and renationalized in July 2021 due to the COVID-19 pandemic, resumed flights in December 2021.
In March 2019, the State of Cape Verde sold 51% of TACV for 1,3 million euros to Lofleidir Cabo Verde, a company comprising 70% of Loftleidir Icelandic EHF (Group Icelandair, which owns 36% of Cabo Verde Airlines – the company’s commercial name) and 30% of Icelandic businessmen with experience in the aviation sector (who assumed the remaining 15% of the privatized 51% share).
The resumption of the Cape Verde-Paris air link represents a significant milestone for the Cape Verdean community and for TACV, providing greater mobility and connection between the archipelago and the diaspora in Europe.
Furthermore, it demonstrates the Cape Verdean government's commitment to supporting the diaspora and fostering economic development by promoting business and expanding international air connections.
