Antony Blinken (USA) Visits Angola.

The United States Ambassador to Angola said today that the visit of US Secretary of State Antony Blinken to the Portuguese-speaking country signals a " good moment " in bilateral relations, promising continued investments in security and infrastructure.

According to Tulinabo Mushingi, the US Secretary of State's agenda includes meetings with the Angolan President, João Lourenço, and the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Téte António, and participation in public events.

“We will engage the secretary (Antony Blinken) in public events, where he can address Angolans at different levels and then we will have statements to the press at the end of the entire journey”.

Tulinabo Mushingi, US ambassador to Angola, told journalists today in Luanda.

Speaking at the Presidential Palace, where the Angolan President, João Lourenço, receives New Year's greetings from the diplomatic corps accredited in Angola, Tulinabo highlighted that Antony Blinken's visit, scheduled for Friday, signals the “good moment” of relations between Luanda and Washington.

The US ambassador to Angola assured that his country will continue to strengthen the prosperity of the Angolan people and also security.

“We will support Angola’s efforts to modernize the armed forces”.

“We will also continue to promote stability in Angola, in the region and in the world, this is very important for both countries”.

“We will also continue to discuss good governance, which includes freedom of the press”, he declared.

Antony Blinken began a tour of Africa on Monday in Cape Verde, which took him, on the same day, to the Democratic Republic of Congo, arriving today in Nigeria after a visit to the Ivory Coast, culminating on Friday in Angola .
