Sareen Malik

Executive Secretary of the African Civil Society Network for Water and Sanitation (ANEW); Vice-Chair of Sa and Water for All (SWA); Co-Chair of the Centre for Entrepreneurship in Water and Sanitation (CEWAS); Board Member of the Stockholm International Water Institute (SIWI). Sareen Malik leads the African Civil Society Network for Water and Sanitation (ANEW), an umbrella organization that brings together water and sanitation NGOs in over 50 African countries. With over 15 years of experience in water and sanitation sector management, Sareen focuses on empowering stakeholders—including civil society, governments, and the private sector—to meaningfully participate in improving water, sanitation, and hygiene (WASH) services and sustainable water management. A law graduate, Sareen has authored several publications and has contributed to the development of management tools, policies, and practices for government and non-governmental actors in the water and sanitation field. Its advocacy work consistently highlights the importance of accountability, equity, and inclusive participation in water and sanitation services, leading to legal reforms and reinforcing the message that effective governance is crucial to achieving sustainable and fair outcomes in the sector.
