Sareen Malik

Executive Secretary of the African Civil Society Network for Water and Sanitation (ANEW); Vice-President of Sa and Water for All (SWA); Co-chair of the Centre for Entrepreneurship in Water and Sanitation (CEWAS); Member of the Board of the Stockholm International Water Institute (SIWI). Sareen Malik leads the African Civil Society Network for Water and Sanitation (ANEW), a coordinating organization that brings together water and sanitation NGOs in over 50 African countries. With more than 15 years of experience in water and sanitation sector management, Sareen focuses on empowering stakeholders—including civil society, governments, and the private sector—to meaningfully participate in improving Water, Sanitation and Hygiene (WASH) services and sustainable water management. A law graduate, Sareen is the author of numerous publications and has contributed to the development of management tools, policies, and practices for governmental and non-governmental actors in the field of water and sanitation. Their promotional work consistently underscores the importance of accountability, equity, and inclusive participation in water and sanitation services, leading to legal reforms and reinforcing the message that effective management is crucial for achieving sustainable and fair outcomes in the sector.
