“On the Wings of Poes(IA)”, In Memoria Hoc Die

Today, March 21st is World Poetry Day, celebrated annually since the date was implemented in 30th Conference General of the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO), in 1999.

This day aims to highlight the importance of poetry as an artistic manifestation common to all Humanity, celebrating creativity, linguistic and cultural plurality and promoting the teaching and reciting of poetry.

For the PALOP it is a very important year as they celebrate 50 years of the April revolution, the revolution that brought freedom and democracy to Portugal and eliminated censorship, allowing poetry to run free. Consequently, it led to the independence of Angola, Mozambique, São Tomé and Príncipe, Cape Verde and, to a certain extent, Guinea-Bissau, I extend these values to these countries.

Interestingly, the 500th anniversary of the birth of Luís Vaz de Camões, one of the greatest exponents of literature in Portuguese, is also celebrated. Therefore, we could not let this event go unnoticed, giving creative freedom to those who supposedly do not have it, that is, the AIs.

On this day, against everything and everyone, In Memoria Hoc Die (in memory of this day), we decided to ask an AI to write a poem with the title “On the wings of Poetry”, focused on Africa, the environment and of course, beauty of this day. This is the result, judge for yourself, the absence, or not, of feeling and creativity.

On the wings of poetry, we fly high,

Where Africa reveals itself in its charm,

In the vast savannas, in the rivers that run free,

Nature sings and the soul revives.

Between the golden plains and the endless blue sky,

The echo of the verses resonates, so beautiful,

Africa, the motherland, cradle of emotion,

Inspires every line, every expression.

In the heart of the forest, there are mysteries to be unraveled,

The pulse of life gives us strength to save it,

Protect every tree, every animal,

It is our honor, our ancestral asset.

It is the cadence of the words that brings us,

A hymn to life, love, peace,

Each stanza, a sigh, a dream to be fulfilled,

But on the wings of poetry, we fly smiling.

May the beauty of Africa, the echo of its floor,

Inspire our rhymes, our verses, our song,

May poetry be the voice of light to guide us,

On the wings of poetry, always flying.

What do you think of this poetry? Could it be that women can also be creative after all? We want to know your opinion, do not hesitate to comment and if you liked the article, share and give a “like/like”.
