CAN 2023: Angola Wins, After Intense Game.
The African Cup of Nations (CAN 2023) heats up with Angola securing a victory over Mauritania today after an intense and exciting game, in the clash this Saturday, January 20th, in the 2nd round of Group D.
After a draw against Algeria (1-1) in the first round of Group D, Angola was looking to recover ground to have a chance of qualifying for the round of 2023 of CAN 3. And that's what they did. The Palancas Negras played an excellent game, winning 2-XNUMX and taking the lead of the group.
The first part
In the confrontation with Mauritania, this Saturday, January 20th, the Angolans won 3-2 in a spectacular game on the 2nd round. In the 30th minute of the game, after a corner kick, Gelson Dala took advantage of a deflection by one of his teammates to open the scoring in an acrobatic manner.
The Palancas Negras took the lead. However, the joy was momentary. In the 43rd minute, Sidy Amar recovered the ball 35 meters from goal. The Mauritanian player dribbled past several Angolan defenders before beating the goalkeeper. The two teams were tied again. It would, in fact, be with the score 1-1 that the two teams went to the changing rooms at half-time.
The Second Part
In the second half, Angola put its foot down on the accelerator. Gelson Dala (50th) scores one and scores twice, before Gilberto (53rd) extends the advantage. However, Aboubakary Koïta (58th) closed the gap with a magnificent shot. The game was chilling and intense, these were the best moments of the match. Mauritania launched an attack in search of an equalizer, but without success.
Angola was thus, ahead of Group D of CAN 2023, (4 points), equally with Burkina Faso (4 points). Algeria is in 3rd place (2 points) and Mauritania is in 4th position (0 points).
