Afro Nation, the music event created in Portugal in 2019 to promote African culture, is returning to its origins, after a forced absence due to the pandemic.

In a company press release, released today, February 27, 2023, Afro Nation Portugal 2023 announced mainstage headliners Wizkid and Davido, as well as other names such as Little Simz, Popcaan and Focalistic – a strong new addition to the world's biggest lineup of Afrobeats and Amapaino this summer.

Back on the beautiful beach of Portimão from the 28th to the 30th of June, Afro Nation has a star-studded lineup that already features the likes of Burna Boy, 50 Cent, Booba, Aya Nakamura, Fireboy DML, Asake, Arya Starr, Black Sherif , Oxlade, Dadju and Ms Banks to name a few.

Now Star Boy himself joins the party once again. With her silky voice and irresistible beats, Wizkid, the multi-platinum, Grammy Award-winning global superstar, heads to Afro Nation Portugal to perform numerous hits including 'Essence', 'Mighty Wine' and 'Blessed' for the crowds that adore him.

Wizkid is joined by Burna Boy, also headlining Afro Nation Portugal 2023. Wizkid's 'More Love, Less Ego' tour is taking the artist to new heights just two years after the sold-out shows at the London O2 Arena 'Made In Lagos' tour – which The Evening Standard described as “a triumph for the increasingly globalized reach of African music”.

Davido, meanwhile, has built a reputation as one of the most exciting and innovative artists on the Nigerian music scene, known for his infectious hooks and energy. With his highly anticipated return to the stage this summer, he expects another big moment in front of the crowd singing every word as he prepares all of his hits like 'Fall', 'If' and 'Skelewu'.

Little Simz, the BRIT Award-winning songwriter known for her strong lyrics, is also on her way to the Algarve to ignite the crowd with the hits from her groundbreaking new albums, 'Sometimes I Might Be Introvert' and 'NO THANK YOU', along with their classic songs like 'Venom', '101FM' and 'Boss'.

But it's not all

Always fearless and thought-provoking, Simz has been collecting accolade after accolade over the past few years, and this is another moment to savor as she makes her Afro Nation Portugal debut. Iconic dancehall legend Popcaan will also arrive in Portugal this summer to heat up the heat with his hottest anthems like 'Only Man She Want', 'Party Shot' and 'When You Wine Like That'.

Another of Amapiano's best Focalistics has been announced as one of the headliners on stage, this year's Piano People, following its headline show in London earlier this month.

Kamo Mphela, Felo Ła Tee, Sir Trill and Skyla Tylaa will also appear alongside numerous South African stars such as previously announced headliners Scorpion Kings, Major League DJz and Uncle Waffles, and so many DJs and artists behind the most exciting sounds in the world.

Powerhouse Musa Keys, popular singer Young Stunna, celebrated genre queen DBN Gogo, pioneer Vigro Deep, “future ghetto punk” superstar Moonchild Sanelly and many more will be bringing the African heat and stirring up the sand with all their latest moves next June.

The general poster for Afro Nation Portugal 2023 was also announced today, with Burna Boy, Aya Nakamura and Popcaan opening the show on June 28th, Wizkid, Little Simz and Asake on June 29th and 50 Cent, Davido , Booba and Fireboy DML, providing the final fireworks on June 30th.

“We are excited to welcome Wizkid, Davido, Little Simz, Popcaan, Focalistic and more to Afro Nation Portugal 2023″.

"These artists represent the best of African music and culture and we can't wait to see them perform on our beautiful beach."

"With so many amazing artists on the lineup, this looks to be the most unmissable party of the summer, and our best festival yet."

Said the organizers of Afro Nation Portugal 2023.
