CAN 2025: South Africa Returns to Cape Town

It's official: South Africa will host South Sudan at Cape Town Stadium for the 6th and final day of the 2025 African Cup of Nations qualifiers. The match is scheduled for Tuesday, November 19, at 16 p.m. GMT.

Bafana Bafana played its last match in Cape Town in 2015, a friendly against Angola. Nine years later, Hugo Broos and his players will return to the same stadium to face South Sudan. The confirmation was made by SAFA President Dr. Danny Jordaan.

“Yes, the match will be played at Cape Town Stadium and we invite fans to come out in large numbers to provide a festive atmosphere for the team during the final Group K match.”

“A good showing would be the perfect reward for a team that has endured a difficult qualifying season, marked by injuries to several key players.”

“It would also be the perfect tribute to these players,” he told the official SAFA website.

Second in Group K of the qualifiers, with 8 points, South Africa faces Uganda (the leader with 10 points) in the 5th round, on Friday, November 15, at the Nelson Mandela National Stadium.
