Angolan President João Lourenço and Brazilian Head of State Lula da Silva will analyze proposals for bilateral strengthening of the agribusiness sector during the Angolan official's visit to Brazil, the Brazilian government said today.

A Brazilian agribusiness mission was in Angola from May 05th to 10th, with the participation of around 30 Brazilian businesspeople and the Brazilian minister who participated in government meetings and technical visits in the provinces of Luanda, Malanje and Cuanza-Norte and also meetings with representatives of the Angolan private sector to discuss forms of financing.

According to the Brazilian Government, the aim of this visit was to prepare proposals for advancing bilateral cooperation in the agricultural sector, on the eve (May 23) of the visit of the President of Angola, João Lourenço, to Brazil.

A document will be prepared and, according to the Ministry of Agriculture, the material will be delivered to Lula da Silva during the presidential meeting on May 23. According to Brazil's Minister of Agriculture, Carlos Fávaro, Lula da Silva was very enthusiastic and awaits the document that the entities will produce.

According to the Brazilian government, Angola has approximately 35 million hectares of agricultural potential, a climate with two well-defined seasons, a rainy season and a dry season, a flat topography excellent for mechanization, and soils with good physical conditions, similar to those of the Brazilian Cerrado.

Brasília will host the African Ministers' Meeting from May 20th to 22nd, with the participation of approximately 50 delegations. Approximately 70% of Brazilian exports to Angola come from the agribusiness sector, with emphasis on sugar and chicken, beef, and pork, accounting for $340 million of the $493 million exported to the country last year.
